James Carr, known in the line dancing community as “Hy N-R-G” (pronounced high energy), has become a prominent figure in the world of line dancing. Born in West Philadelphia and raised in upstate New York, James now calls Durham, NC his home, where he has spent most of his life. His journey into line dancing began in November 2010 with Line Dance Fever & Fitness (LDFF) under the guidance of founder Leigh Williams, affectionately known as “General.”
James’s entry into the world of line dancing was serendipitous. A friend recommended Leigh’s class, and from the very first day, James was captivated. His vibrant energy on the dance floor quickly earned him the nickname “Hy N-R-G.” This nickname perfectly encapsulates his dynamic presence and infectious enthusiasm, which become evident after watching him dance for just a few minutes.
After just over two years of dancing, James took on a new role as an instructor, and today, he proudly serves as the CEO of LDFF. His passion for line dancing extends beyond the dance floor; it is a means for him to connect with new people, explore new places, and share his love for dancing.
James has traveled extensively, from coast to coast and from the East to the West, building a vast network of line dance connections. He has taught diverse audiences and cherished the opportunity to bond with his Line Dance Family, both near and far. His ultimate goal is to see line dancing grow into a more mainstream and everyday activity for everyone.
